The pivot is the key to the golf swing; the body moves the arms, the arms move the club and the club moves the ball. Dan’s aim is to find the root cause of the problem within a players swing, using this as a catalyst to address all other faults that exist as a result. Goal setting is key to long term success and creating a unique route map to fit the individuals needs, wants and desires is vital. Finding the route cause, and setting goals, allows a player to make the necessary changes and to take ownership of their swing, eventually becoming the best version of themselves.
In order to maximise the students improvements Dan will always be working at the edge of, and just beyond, the students current ability or skill set. This allows the student to achieve maximum gains with their swing, whilst also learning resilience and tenacity. Dan’s true skill as a coach is rooted not only in his absolute understanding of swing mechanics but in his quest to become a great teacher. What’s he’s learnt through many different disciplines of teaching has given him an impressive understanding about how people learn, and adds massive value to his students.
Dan’s goal as the coach is to make himself redundant to the student. To achieve this he incorporates a player centred coaching environment where accountability is key. An evidence based approach, using the latest technology, stats and detailed questioning, allows a student to continually progress on their journey to mastery. Through the correct practice structure the student will be able to self evaluate and create ownership of their game.
The accountability of both student and teacher is laid out in the first session when short, medium and long term goals are logged and an action plan is created. Throughout the course of the relationship Dan constantly pursues excellence and aims to create an elite experience for every player who takes him on as their coach.
